A bit about us

A bit about us

Nick and I have been inter-twined like a gold rope-band (@Moxie) since 2000! We’ve dabbled in food design(chef), clothing design(I only managed to dress myself) and the arts and crafts, but finally settled in the diamond biz in 2006.

 THE PRE-DEAL

My great-grandfather traveled from Mother Russia to settle in Singapore. Sadly hard times hit during World War 2 and the family had to flee. With a handful of stones (the legal polished kind of course) on Friday the 13th (nog al), they traveled to Mama-Africa. Great Gramps settled down with his clan and began what was to become a very successful diamond cutting business. The whole fam dam got stuck into this little piece of octahedron pie and the rest, as they say, 'is history'. Then I was born.. (ok a lot happened in between but blah blah...) lusting after all things shiny, from a tiny tot. My destiny was “set in stone”!!!

Nicks Great great great Grandfather incredibly enough was also a diamond guy. He immigrated from Dublin, Ireland in 1847. He settled in the Orange Free state at the time that the Brits granted independence to the trekkers. While Mr Reid was setting up camp, a little boy named Erasmus Jacobs found a transparent rock on the banks of the Orange river, circa 1866. ”Eureka” they named her. And Eureka we agree. Chris Reid is said to have been at the forefront of the development of the mining industry that is now essentially De Beers. The family didn’t continue in mining but produced some pretty clever engineers and creatives.

Nick went from master chef to master diamond dealer. His love for diamonds was instantaneous. Much like his love for...... his daughter.

 M O X I E

The name... People ask, why the name!? It only took about 364 days to come up with her and stick with her. I think we were about to call our new lil business, ”new lil business".  It’s much like when we named our daughter. Wife + Morphine and just like that... Rosie...Posie!?! Nick said I could name the next kid. While it took me a day or so to get used to her title, no name could personify this little blommetjie, quite like 'Rosie' does.

 THE REAL DEAL

There's nothing flakey about us. Fine gold jewellery to wear all day e’er’ day. Luxury jewellery at a more affordable price. Rose, yellow or white gold. 18ct or 9ct. More fun designs and stone combo’s coming...

It’s always cool to gift one's self and by all means, please do. Some independent Moxie women about. We like the idea of gifting someone else too. Aren’t we thoughtful? The gals can club in for a mate or the kids can split on a special piece for mom. She's just turned sweet 16 or she's reached her milestone 21. She's about to get married and needs a “something new” for her special day. You've just had a baby and daddy wants to say thank you for the most precious gift he's ever received #pushpresent

It's dainty, it's collectible, it's timeless. The local fashionista would totes be hashtagging. Buy them stacked together or collect them over time.

There is something magic in receiving a small box (eek), a piece of jewellery that's been selected or made especially for you. This whole process is as important to us as it is to you. The thought and consideration that goes into choosing something for someone you love or care about, trusting the person you are buying from. We know the love you are passing on in that small box. (Nothing generic about it) If only we could capture all those moments. (Please @moxiejewellery us with your pic.)

There is no other material gift that could show more...

 Get your Moxie on 🤟🏼

FYI - octahedron is the basic crystal shape of a diamond.

 Love,

Moxie mama
